I am Pavithra, welcome to my culinary Journal. I wanted to go to a culinary school, but ended becoming an IT graduate. It’s my love and passion for food which has brought me to where I stand today. I am currently living in US with my loving husband Elango and adorable Kid Aadavan.
Before moving forward about myself, let me first dedicate this culinary journal to my better half because he is the main inspiration for this Journey. And it goes without saying my parents, who are my best teachers and without whom I will not have learned cooking. This food blog "Dishes from My Kitchen" is to share my recipes with others and again it’s also my passion for food and cooking. Tamilnadu, which is in the southern part of India. It is the true home of Indian Vegetarianism. Tamilian Cookery has always had its own distinctive tradition.

You can find all Indian cuisines. Because of my Telugu roots and Tamil heritage you can see lot of dishes from both the states. I lived in Singapore for 5 years and traveled along Asian countries and I have influence with those cuisines. I am a big food lover who loves to explore new ingredients and also passionate to try all types of cuisines. So you can see all kind of international cuisines which are tried and tasted by our family and Friends. You can see vast collection of vegetarian recipes with the exception of Egg. I am an "Eggetarian" :)
My Passion for baking...
I am very passionate about baking and love to bake. I am very proud to say I am a "Daring baker".
Camera I use...
I love photography. I started this journey with a Canon PowerShot camera. Now I own a Canon Rebel Xsi. I am still an Amateur in photography. Still in the learning process...May be I will complete this statement as a pro in future :)
My Interest in Food styling and Food art...
According to me Cooking food is an art. As for any art piece the style of it is an important element. I strongly believe that styling food as a piece of art is appealing to the eyes and inviting to the senses. Even the simple food that is styled and presented as a piece of art will make a world of difference. I always go with my thoughts and feelings to present food as a piece of art. Props only play a small role in adding to the beauty of the picture. In the days when I started food blogging, I did not have any props; my way to go was food art with the ingredients used in the dish itself. This can be seen in my older posts.
Improvising Dishes..
My kitchen is my playground and I like to play my games with my own rules. I like to play around with my dishes and improvise them to make it tastier and healthier. I am happy to share those with all of you.
Accolades...
Throughout my culinary journey I have participated in several food competitions and won prizes. The competitions start from my school days and college days. When I lived in Singapore I participated in the "Enna Samayalo" food competition conducted by Vasantham Central the Singapore Tamil TV Channel and won the first prize for the Vegetarian dish.
